Welcome to the latest edition of The Cross-Chain Roundup, your weekly roundup of everything that’s happening in the fast-paced world of cross-chain. New interoperability breakthroughs; integrations; innovative tech and much more. It’s all here, broken down into bite-size chunks for you to digest at your leisure.
Let’s do this.
📰Cross-Chain Updates
1. Axelar Testnet Bridge Deployed on Kava
DApps and assets will soon be deployable on the Kava Network thanks to Axelar’s bridge. Successful deployment on the Kava testnet has paved the way for an impending full launch. Once live, it will enable assets to be bridged to Kava from chains such as Avalanche, Polygon, and Sei.
2. Connext Amarok Upgrade Deployed on Mainnet
Connext’s long-awaited Amarok upgrade has successfully been deployed. A major update to the network’s capabilities, Amarok will connect DEX liquidity across chains in a single seamless tx and support use cases such as cross-chain vault zaps and vault strategy management.
3. LayerZero Is Coming to Metis
Metis’ superpowers are about to level up thanks to the arrival of LayerZero. The latter’s interoperability protocol is now live on the Goerli testnet, expanding cross-chain capabilities to the Metis ecosystem.
4. Multichain Integrates With XANA Metaverse
Cross-chain router Multichain has integrated with XANA. As a result, $XETA can now be transferred between XANA’s metaverse and Avalanche, Ethereum, BNB, and Step. XANA’s EVM-based blockchain infrastructure and dApp platform are custom-built for supporting metaverse projects.
5. Across Protocol Completes $10M Raise
It’s been a good week for Across, which has just completed a $10M raise, valuing the bridging protocol at $200M. Hack VC, Placeholder, and Blockchain Capital invested in the round by purchasing AST tokens from Risk Labs, the foundation that supports Across Protocol.
6. Polkadot’s New Governance System Debuts on Kusama
Kusama always gets the cool stuff before it debuts on Polkadot and this week was no exception. The new autonomous on-chain governance system, billed as “the most advanced in the industry” was approved by the Kusama community on November 21. It promises to deliver fully decentralized governance that is more robust and agile than its predecessor.
7. Magic Eden Expands to Polygon
Multichain NFT marketplace Magic Eden has made Polygon its third supported network. A launchpad and marketplace will go live on Polygon next month to support those it already has on Ethereum and Solana.
8. Moonbeam Adds Cross-Chain Connected Contracts With LayerZero
It’s been a Layer Zero kinda week. The interoperability protocol has arrived on Moonbeam where it will support cross-chain message passing. Using LayerZero’s connected contracts solution, developers can build dApps that can tap into functionality from Polkadot, Ethereum, Avalanche, Swimmer, and beyond.
9. Boba Upgrade Adds Bridging Support for New L1s
Beautiful Bactrian Camel is the intriguing name assigned to release v0.3.0 of the Boba network. It includes a raft of improvements such as a new gateway to easily access all the Boba chains, both test- and mainnets. The upgrade also makes it possible to bridge from Boba to other L1s such as BNB and AVAX. They’ve also improved the UI/UX of bridging to non-Ethereum L1s.
